Solutions:
- Require a background check prior to the transfer of a firearm between unlicensed individuals
- Require gun owners to obtain a license, register their firearms, or report lost or stolen firearms (similar to 11 states)
- Require firearms dealers to obtain a state license (similar to 14 states)
- Impose a minimum age of 21 for the purchase of ammunition (Texas constitution prohibits minors from purchasing firearms) as recommended by the American Medical Association. But make an exemption for veterans and active duty under between the ages of 18 and 21
- Impose a minimum age of 21 for the possession of a handgun (similar to 11 states) as recommended by the American Medical Association
- Strengthen domestic violence laws and close loopholes for domestic abusers that own firearms and ammunition
- Ban large capacity ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds (similar to 9 states)
- Alert Survivors When Domestic Abusers Try To Buy A Gun
- Require municipal courts report to the state the identities and fingerprints of all people found guilty or plead no contest to Class C misdemeanor family violence charges
