Discrimination

As of January 28, 2015 at least 225 cities and counties prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of gender identity in employment ordinances that governed all public and private employers in those jurisdictions. This list does not include those cities and counties that prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender identity for city and county employees — such policies do not affect private employers in those jurisdictions.

Solutions:

  • Pass a non discrimination ordinance similar to the one in Utah. LGBT would have protections under employers and housing but religious organizations and charities would be exempt and there is no public accommodation
  • Prohibit conversion therapy for minors similar to 47 cities and 14 states
  • Pass an ordinance prohibiting discrimination based on pregnancy
