Houston is the 4th largest city in the USA and growing. Our urban planning should center around public transportation such as but not limited to: light rail, bicycles and buses. There are benefits to furthering our bicycle plan in Houston such as tourism, saving gas money and increased small business sales.
Our plan is to be the #1 bicycle-friendly city in Texas and within the top 50 nationally by 2020.
- Expand bicycle trails in urban and suburban settings so residents can use them to get to work and for recreational use
- Advocate for bike racks on transportation such as but not limited to: buses, light rail, etc
- Propose a parking tax to help pay for bicycle lanes and public transportation
- Raise awareness of bicycle deaths by through ghost bikes
